ABOUT CEAR
Utica College’s Center for Ergonomic Analysis and Research (CEAR) provides opportunities for educational programs, research, and ergonomic consultation for the College, other companies, and their workers.
CEAR’s expert staff members apply the most innovative, evidence-based techniques drawn from the fields of physical therapy, biomechanics, and ergonomics to reduce workplace injuries, increase productivity, and promote health and wellness.
CEAR's mission is to benefit the Utica College community through a combination of educational outreach efforts, research and service-learning projects, and consulting contracts.
CEAR at Utica College has three main goals:
- Offer regular, campus-wide education to the Utica College community regarding proper ergonomics, introduce and demonstrate appropriate methods to minimize physical stress and reduce workplace injuries, and assist with the choice and correct use of equipment and furniture designed to meet current ergonomic standards;
- Conduct systematic research to improve work environments on campus specifically and generate data for more general applications and peer-reviewed publications; and
- Provide fee-based training, consultation services, and product testing to regional and national healthcare providers, businesses, and firms.
